When we moved in last fall, I noticed some clematis growing in front of the house and went ahead and ripped it out, thinking it was the same white-flowered invasive kind that made our yard a nightmare at a previous house.
The little bit I didn’t manage to remove is blooming now, and WOW! I didn’t realize there was a variety with such showy purple blossoms. It’s a cultivar, but I think it’s a cultivar of something native (or native-ish?) so perhaps we can let it climb the archway, keeping a close eye on it.
There’s lot of color in the yard right now, but this really is a standout. Lovely!
