Hard work

Growing your own food, as it turns out, is HARD….especially during prime summer harvest season in a particularly wet year for our region.

In the past three days, I have: spent 3 hours removing diseased leaves and stems from tomatoes, harvested several pounds of tomatoes, zucchini and cucumbers, discovered pests on the zucchini plants (squash bugs?) and had to remove one plant completely, spread straw mulch under struggling plants, made fridge pickles, made salsa, put tomatoes of varying ripeness in paper bags to finish ripening, steamed squash and green beans, sliced and pickled jalapenos, and eaten a ridiculous volume of fresh produce.

In other words…I’m exhausted!
