Giving thanks – for broccoli

Time passes, seasons change. This year I have not had much time or mental bandwidth for gardening, making me ever so grateful for crops that thrive on neglect! Despite barely stepping out into the garden for months, the warm fall brought us a bumper crop of peppers:

And, to my endless delight, when I went out two days ago to check on the broccoli plants I plopped in the ground back in August – there were baby broccoli heads tucked inside each one!

I hope you have much to be thankful for this November.
